About Us

Joel Newbury is a school counselor and adjunct professor that is passionate about guiding students through the college admissions process to help them discover their purpose and achieve their goals. With over a decade of experience in education, Joel brings a wealth of knowledge and a personal commitment to making college accessible and attainable for every student.

Joel has served as a high school counselor in the Paradise Valley Unified School District for four years and as a middle school counselor for two years. Before that, Joel worked as a college admissions specialist for an Arizona university for three years. During that time, he gained firsthand insight into the competitive world of higher education, traveling extensively and learning about a wide range of universities. This experience, combined with his title of "College Admissions Specialist" awarded by the American School Counselor Association, uniquely positions him to support students in navigating their academic journeys.

In addition to his counseling work, he has also had the privilege of teaching and mentoring future educators. As an adjunct professor at Prescott College, he trained aspiring school counselors, and he currently teaches a course at Paradise Valley Community College focused on helping students successfully transition to their first year of university life. Joel's expertise extends beyond admissions, as he is deeply invested in helping students understand and plan for college finances—a critical aspect of achieving long-term success.

Jonah Starr is a dedicated School Counselor with a passion for guiding students toward achieving their academic and personal aspirations. A strong Christian, Jonah holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Grand Canyon University (2020) and a Master’s in School Counseling from Liberty University (2022).

Jonah finds immense joy in the college admissions process, especially in helping students discover colleges that feel like home and align with their dreams. His empathetic and goal-oriented approach empowers students to navigate this pivotal chapter of their lives with confidence and clarity.

Residing in Phoenix, Arizona, Jonah cherishes family life with his wife and young son. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling to the beach, taking walks with his family, playing fantasy football, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. Jonah's dedication to his students and his zest for life make him an inspiring advocate for their success.
